An Hour of Joy

Lasting First Impressions of Kinect Disneyland Adventures from Frontier Developments

2D Boxshot Wizard v1.1I was only 5 years old the last time I visited Disney World in Orlando Florida.  I have never had the opportunity to visit Disneyland in California.  The joy that Disney brings to kids of all ages is universal so I was quite curious to take a journey to Disneyland with the help of my Xbox and Kinect in Kinect Disneyland Adventures.

First I had to decide what I wanted to wear during my adventures here at Disneyland but that didn’t take too long to decide and I was soon making my way through the front gates of the park and into what was sure to be a wonderfully fun-filled day.  Before I got too far into the park, however, a golden ticket flew by and magically transformed into a silly little man who would soon become my personal guide through the park.  He told me right away that Mickey Mouse was looking for someone to help him out.  Mickey Mouse! Who doesn’t want to meet Mickey Mouse in person, right?  I quickly make my way through the park, with my golden ticket guiding the way, and, before I knew it, there he was!  The Big Mouse himself.  I waved at him to get his attention and he was so happy to see me.  He had an autograph book that he needed to get signed by his pals here in Mickey’s Toontown.  I was happy to help him out and after giving Mickey a great big hug, and a high five, I was on my way to find Donald Duck.

My adventure didn’t stop there though, I got to meet Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, my favourite of all, Goofy, and of course, the ever lovable Pluto.  When I met each of these iconic figures, I danced with them, I high fived them, I got their autographs, and I made sure to give them all a hug before moving on.  Each of them also needed me to help them with a task and I was more than happy to assist as it gave me more opportunities to explore this huge park just bustling with families all around.  Running through the park was just so much fun and I hadn’t even made it to any of the rides yet!  Mickey even gave me a camera to take pictures of myself with each of the Disney characters I found.  Throughout my wandering of the parks, I found hidden Mickey symbols so I was sure to take a snapshot of them for my collection too.  It seemed like the fun just never ended here!

When I first met Goofy and took a picture with him, he told me that Donald would love to have his picture taken, but he was missing his hat.  First, I would have to find Donald’s hat somewhere on the Matterhorn ride so off we went to take a run down the snowy mountain.  The Matterhorn ride was so much fun too.  I got to ride in my own bobsled, collect coins, dodge obstacles and even throw snowballs at the Yeti who were trying to make me crash.  I had so much fun on this ride that I really wanted to try it again, but first I had to return Donald’s Hat to him.

From there I journeyed through some more of the park and tried a couple more rides and it was all so much fun that I really didn’t want to leave.  I knew I only had an hour to spend in this magical land but I never expected that hour to go by so quickly.  I didn’t even get to meet all the other 30 Disney characters that are somewhere in this huge park, like Buzz Lightyear, Ariel, Captain Hook and so many others.  I didn’t have time to experience each of the 18 iconic attractions either.  My only reassurance, as I left the park, was that I could return to Disneyland anytime I wanted through the magic of Kinect.  I knew right away that I would most certainly return and, next time, I would bring my daughters along with me.  Disneyland Adventures is unadulterated joy and a surprisingly fun celebration for kids of all ages. Maybe next we can go to Disney World too?

Frontier Developments, I spent an hour in this magical world you brought to life, and I am IMPRESSED.
